OTT: Stuck with the Plan (PGT)

Last night, the Ottawa Senators played a tough game against the Edmonton Oilers. Not to sound biased or anything, but the Sens absolutely dominated the game. After the first period, the score could of been atleast 4-0. There's not many positives to be said about Edmonton's game, but the one BIGGY was the play of 25 year old Jeff Deslauriers. For his first season, he's doing a remarkable job for a struggling Oilers team. If TSN was to do a top 10 saves of last night countdown, he would be on every single highlight.

The Senators powerplay gave our fans a scare during the first period. Zero for three, with 24 seconds of 5 on 3. Eventually, Chris Kelly scored in the 2nd period to give the Senators the boost they needed. You could tell the Sens were frustrated the whole game long, and that Chris Kelly's goal woke the whole team up.

The third period was all Ottawa. Matt Cullen scored 8 minutes in with a powerplay goal. The powerplay goal gave some Sens fans a sigh of relief. Later, Mike Fisher scored five-hole on Deslauriers. The dragon had be slain. 12 minutes in, Milan Michalek got his 22nd goal of the season on a powerplay (I KNOW RIGHT! 2 PPG!)

Brian Elliott wasn't tested often, but he was solid when he had to be. On a controversial penalty shot call, Elliott robbed Comrie. Believe it or not, that was only Elliott's 3rd shot of the game.

MY Three Stars:

3. Matt Cullen (OTT) - I think Matt played solid all night long. He was definatley a great pick up by Bryan Murray. He looks very comfortable playing his natural center position, and I truly believe he should stay in the middle!

2. Jeff Deslauriers (EDM) - There was only so much Jeff could do for the Oilers. He was spectacular the first two periods, but we all knew the goals would come eventually; with the Sens vicious attack and the Oilers always in their own end.

1. Daniel Alfredsson (OTT) - Truly the heart and soul of the Ottawa Senators. The past few weeks you may have seen me on the Sens board clearly talking about how simple is good, well that's how Alfie played tonight, and picked up three assists for it. Alfie set up 3 or the 4 Senators goals all with a simple little play. Patience and simple is the way to go.

Our next game is Thursday versus the Flames.
GO SENS GO!
